The Comdex trade event next week will showcase the latest Linux technology from a host of vendors including iRobot Corporation, which will be demonstrating what it bills as the world's first web-controlled robot.
The iRobot LE is being pitched as a home security tool, which users can use remotely to view and guard their property though a web browser while they are away from home. If you're going to the show, you can check it out at booth P715.
PlayStation 2, the Iomega HipZip MP3 player and the Ericsson screen phone will all be shown at Red Hat's booth (P601) as the firm demonstrates the use of its open source tools.
Corel's recent releases, including the second edition of its Linux OS, CorelDRAW for Linux and WordPerfect Office 2000, will be demonstrated on the show floor at booth P201.
Corel has also promised that representatives will be available to answer queries on its new strategy, including its alliance with Microsoft, as the company attempts to allay fears about its recent troubles.
Clustering systems from SuSE Linux (P101), and Evolocity from Linux NetworX (P121) will also be put through their paces. Cluster technology links multiple computers to form more powerful systems.
Finally, servers will be strutting their stuff over in the BSDi (P411) and Penguin Computing (P211) booths.
