The iPhone is still the device most users want to be seen with, trumping new kids on the block such as the HTC Hero, Nokia N97 and the Palm Pre in a new poll of V3.co.uk readers.
Over 1,500 readers responded to our Summer Smartphone poll, and 28 per cent said that the iPhone 3GS is the device they'll be taking to the beach this summer.
Nokia's N97 garnered an impressive 11 per cent of the vote, followed by the HTC Hero with 10 per cent, and the Palm Pre and Toshiba TG01 with five and two per cent respectively.
The BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Curve also got mentions from readers commenting on the poll, while Nokia's E71 was rated by one respondent as "excellent value".
HTC's Touch Pro2 was favoured by another reader who commented: "A full Qwerty keyboard is a must for email so, while the [iPhone] 3GS may be slimmer, its footprint is still larger and no full Qwerty keyboard."
However, the recession also seems to be taking its toll on V3.co.uk readers. Nearly 30 per cent indicated that they will not be spending money on holidays or new phones this year.
