Online security firm VeriSign has extended its support for small businesses with a set of web-based resources designed to provide advice on establishing and promoting the security of their sites to customers.
The VeriSign SMB Internet Security Clinic offers online firms which typically have fewer resources to spend on security the chance to consult VeriSign experts on how to improve customer trust and increase sales.
Advice is available on a variety of issues, including specific technical questions on tools and technologies such as Extended Validation SSL and strong authentication, according to the vendor.
Martin Mackay, vice president and general manager for VeriSign in Europe, argued that the success of small businesses is vital to broader European growth.
"When shopping online, many consumers automatically start with the big e-commerce portals. Therefore, SMBs need to make sure their sites give buyers the reassurance they need to avoid being forgotten," he said.
"The VeriSign SMB Internet Security Clinic gives those responsible for e-commerce reassurance that their sites will be secure, ideas on how to promote this to buyers and unrivalled access to VeriSign's team of experts for advice."
VeriSign launched similar dedicated online resources around a year ago designed to help smaller firms maintain customer trust while growing their business.
