Fujitsu has released a free administration tool designed to simplify the management of physical and virtual servers in blade environments based on its Primergy systems.
Available with all new Primergy BX blade systems, the software is an entry-level version of the company's ServerView Resource Coordinator VE (RVCE), known as RCVE Preview.
The software gives administrators a single-screen overview of all physical and virtual servers operating in Fujitsu blade environments. It also enables virtual machines to be labelled, which makes it easier to track which services are running on which servers, according to the firm.
Joe Duran, Primergy server product manager for Fujitsu UK and Ireland, said that RCVE Preview makes it easier to move virtual machines around and ensure that the entire blade environment is running at its optimum performance level.
RCVE Preview supports Fujitsu's BX600 and BX900 Primergy systems, and can manage Windows Server 2003/2008, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, and Solaris 10.
It also supports virtual servers running on Microsoft's Hyper-V, Xen and VMware's VI3 and vSphere 4.
