As part of V3's partnership with Cisco in the run up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, we look at how big data analytics technology will be used to help manage the event.
IDC's lead analyst on big data analytics, Benjamin Woo, says the Olympics is an opportunity for big data analytics to showcase the opportunities it can bring society and businesses.
He says, for example, the technology can be used to help manage public transport at a time when millions more people will be driving through London and using the Tube and bus networks. Police can also analyse a range of different types of data, whether it be from social networks or GPS signals, to better position officers.
This article is part of a special Olympics Technology series sponsored by Cisco. For more information please follow this link.
