Tegra is the brand name chosen by Nvidia for its mobile processor chips aimed at smartphones and other portable devices.

Each Tegra chip combines at least one ARM-based CPU along with a graphics processor (GPU) and additional support circuitry such as a memory controller.

Tegra chips are comparable to other ARM-based  smartphone chips from vendors such as Texas Instruments adn Qualcomm, emphasising low power consumption and high performance for media handling.

The Tegra 2 is one of the most commonly used dual-core 1GHz processors and is found in a number of high-end mobile devices.

The chip is also set to power devices including the Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
