Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is the standard communications protocol used to deliver web content across the internet.
Using HTTP, a web browser can request pages from a web server out on the internet, and also submit data such as from an on-screen HTML form.
HTTP typically uses the TCP protocol to establish and maintain a reliable connection across the internet, with the output from TCP further being encapsulated into IP packets for transmission.
