Excellent image editor that's both free and updated regularly

Platform: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 7, Windows Vista 64-bit

Manufacturer: Antonio Da Cruz

Price: Free

Although Photoshop users like to use their favourite image editor as they’re used to the various key shortcuts, functions and macros they’ve already set up, loading large-scale image editors is overkill if you simply want to edit a basic image.

PhotoFiltre is a superb free image and photo editor that will enable you to touchup your digital photos, add effects to images, quickly edit and grab sections of photos and it will even handle your scanning and other image importing duties.

Best of all, it’s designed and presented in a well-designed interface, along with a professional toolbar. As the application is plugin-based, you can program and create your own modules or include some of the available modules, such as the red-eye corrector and others.
