Most modern image viewers, even basic ones, will enable you to convert the format of your images to some degree. This is especially useful if you are using Images gathered from a number of different sources, whether it be your own photographs, or pictures received from friends and family via email. Multiple image formats can cause issues when trying to view images within a library, so you may find it more convenient to convert the images in your library into a single, unified format. This may make your images easier to manage, send to friends and upload to a website.

XnView enables users to convert images to almost two hundred different formats. It's also a useful tool for browsing images and can be used to edit, adjust and crop any images before conversion. XnView can also be used to rename batches of images to save time.
