Adobe Reader SpeedUp

PDF documents are small relatively small files and are easily distributed across the Internet. However, viewing them isn’t so straightforward. Most of use Adobe Reader as our primary choice for opening and reading PDF documents. The latest release is over 20MB and, with each subsequent release, the startup time to open a PDF document takes longer.

With Adobe Reader SpeedUp, you’re able to remove or disable a number of the options and extensions that slow down Adobe Reader, after you click on a PDF document. Adobe Reader ships with a selection of configuration options that aren’t necessary for viewing standard PDF documents. Adobe Reader SpeedUp merely disables these unnecessary options, thus speeding up the opening up of a PDF document.

Mostly this is an automated process, although you can manually configure the Adobe Reader SpeedUp options to further increase the startup speed of your documents. If you then have problems with Adobe Reader, or need to re-enable some of the settings disabled by Adobe Reader SpeedUp, you can restore back to a previous configuration, at a later date.
