Aurora is a XAML design product for developing user interfaces and graphics for Windows desktop and web applications. In addition to being a XAML designer, Aurora also serves as a customisable and embeddable graphics design platform with an Object Model and Plug-in architecture.

Aurora generates the XAML mark up required by Visual Studio for developing .NET 3.0 applications. Aurora authors traditional style dialogue boxes and windows using common controls, and is also used for creating rich graphics intended for use in WPF software applications. The Aurora Designer works in multiple layers like many graphics design products; it supports 2D vector graphics, and has powerful brush options for specifying liner, radial, visual, image and video brushes. Aurora also has a gallery of royalty-free clip art. Unlike some design products and export plug-ins that produce mark up completely as paths, the output from Aurora is optimised so that the individual graphics can be easily integrated with .NET code behind.

In addition to being a standalone XAML design product, Aurora also serves as a graphic design platform that can be embedded in 3rd party .NET applications as a WPF control. Aurora has full object model allowing for the generation of graphics on the design surface programmatically. Developers can access the XAML document tree, and toolbars, menu, property panel items and even embed their own WPF components.
