A safer bet than the AfterBurner Hack, this will still take you into the fast lane.

Cruise Control is a small utility that can speed up a Palm by up to 60 per cent, according to a number of benchmark tests.

OK, the Palm isn't exactly slow to begin with, but it's always nice if things can be made to go that little bit faster. Extra speed is especially useful for functions such as browsing databases and playing games, and is essential for running Liberty Emulator, the Nintendo emulator for the Palm.

Unlike the more advanced AfterBurner Hack, Cruise Control is very easy to use and doesn't take up half as much memory. Also, performing operations such as a HotSync or the beaming of data are unaffected.

Launch the application and you have the option of two cruising speeds: fast or slow. Slow is the standard Palm speed, and fast offers you the enhanced speed of Cruise Control. Set the speed to fast and you will instantly notice the difference.

Note: Speeding up your Palm device in such a way is not supported by Palm and could cause the device to crash, resulting in data loss. It is recommended that you back up your data before you install the software.
