Use this Mac-based tool to track your finances at home or as a small business

Us Brits love to bury our heads and worry about our finances at a later date. We’ll set up direct debits to pay our important bills, but we rarely bother to figure where we spend our money, track the interest accumulating on our credit card bills or worry about saving for the future.

Factor in self-employment it’s too easy to get overwhelmed with your tax, VAT or the basics of sending out and tracking unpaid invoices. When you’re a small business, you’ll spend all day on the job and the last thing you want to do is go home and spend time figuring which invoices are unpaid or whether you’ve invoiced at all.

Problem is that few of us are clued up enough to use the powerful finance packages either and we can’t expect or afford to pay our accountant to do the day-to-day work of looking after our invoices. There must be a more simple way of tracking our accounts.

Money3 is a Mac-only financial tool that you can use to track your current, savings and credit accounts, plus track your investments and shares. Better still, it serves the purposes of a small business, enabling you to create and send out invoices and making sure you can see who has paid and which invoices are outstanding.

If you want a quick analysis of your current situation, you can run a report and either view this on-screen or print for future reference. Note that you can’t use this tool for professional tax purposes – you won’t be able to submit your tax or VAT using this tool. It’s designed for home users or the self-employed who want a tool to produce and track invoices.
