Sooner rather than later you’ll run out of space and need to upgrade your hard drive or even upgrade to a new PC. Either way, the drive will either ship as one large partition or sub-divided by the manufacturer in to multiple partitions. This is frustrating as, once Windows is installed and configure, it’s difficult to re-configure and partition your drive from within your operating system.
There are tools that you ought to have either installed or ready to install for future purposes. Disk management tools that partition, enable you to restore a partition and configure your boot procedure can be a useful addition to your software portfolio.
Acronis Disk Director Home is a collection of disk management tools that should be part of any software collection. The drive partitioning tools will enable you to create, merge and delete partitions from within Windows. It’s a simple procedure of simply dragging the partition to the size you require and committing the change. You could quickly turn one large 500GB drive in to three partitions – one for Windows, another for your music and media files and another for backup.
However, Disk Director Home isn’t just a partitioning toolkit. It is also a boot selector, so you can configure your PC to boot in to a different operating system. Perhaps you want Windows and Linux installed on same computer, but want the option to boot in to either? Another option is to dual-boot in to either Windows or Linux.
