This is the official release of OpenOffice 3. The most immediately visible change to OpenOffice.org 3.0 is the new "Start Centre" , new fresh-looking icons, and a new zoom control in the status bar. Other highlights include Notable Calc improvements, including a new solver component; support for spreadsheet collaboration through workbook sharing; and an increase to 1024 columns per sheet. Writer has an improved notes feature and displays of multiple pages while editing. There are numerous Chart enhancements, and an improved crop feature in Draw and Impress.
The download here is for the Windows version. The latest OpenOffice 3.1 contains a wide number of new features and improvements, including improved support for the rendering of graphical images using anti-aliasing.

Openoffice 3.1
it would appear that the Canon mp540 all in one printer does not work with a) either vista home premium 64 bit or b) Openoffice 3.1 (or 3.0) will not operate on a 64 bit machine. Downloads OK, opens up OK but will not print. Is there a 64 bit version to download or should the 32 bit Openoffice version work? Windows states that the printer is set as default but Openoffice error message states there is no default printer. Help please.

No Problem with OpenOffice 3.1
I can not understand the problems the previous post is mentioning as I had none of those problems. OpenOffice has functioned fine for me.

Be cautious with this release.
I have found this version of Openoffice to be full of bugs, too many to describe here. if you use an earlier version and are happy with it, I would stay with that one. Version 3 shuts itself down regularly, and loses what you were doing. It often fails to save, and then loses the document format. Very frustrating, as I was looking forward to using a newer version. I can't get it to update either.
