Maybe we’re just being paranoid, but it appears more difficult to remove security software than any other installed application. You would have thought that the security software developers would never want us to remove their apps. Actually there are valid reasons. If you install a security suite, it will integrate deep in to your system. For example, an anti-spam add-on for your email client, messenger and your startup applications.
Run the uninstaller supplied with your security software and you’ll often find that it doesn’t always remove every aspect of an installed application. Installers aren’t that intelligent. If you leave your email client open, whilst you uninstall, it may not remove the anti-spam module. After this, you may be stuck with components from the old security application.
AppRemover is a specialist software removal tool that’s designed to remove installed security applications from various suppliers. It’s ideal for when you want to completely eradicate installed security software with the intention of installing fresh security tools. There’s no obvious information from the website regarding the security software it supports (and, thus, removes), but it supports the most obvious anti-virus and anti-spyware applications.

Do you agree?
Terrible Application. Much worse than Revo Uninstaller.
Would not remove Avira antivirus, Comodo Firewall, AVG or Avast cleanly. Revo did them all without a hitch, and doesn't just work on security programs.

"AppRemover" uninstaller program claims are exaggerated
Chris: The information in your write up on the "AppRemover v 2.2.6.1" program maybe a little dated. My search of the developer's("OPSWAT, Inc." ) website shows a list of several antivirus programs that the developer claims his program will remove. As of 25 October, 2010, the following antivirus programs are included in the list on the OPSWAT, Inc. website. Additionally, there is a claim that the AppRemoval program will (completely - emphasis is mine) remove many more programs than those listed. Specifically listed as removable by the "AppRemover" unInstaller program are the following malware/antivirus software packages. Avast! AVG Avira ESET Kaspersky McAfee Norton (Symantec) Trend Micro The developer indicates that the above list is not all-inclusive. Besides the antivirus programs listed, the phrase "and more" was tacked onto the end of the list. Claims made by the "AppRemover" antivirus program developer go on to the point of, for me, becoming "unbelievable". I had never heard of this program until I read about it on the "Download Junkie" website just minutes ago. This makes me think that the "AppRemover" program has not been on the market very long. If I am correct about this being a new program, then claims made by the developer that include "AppRemover fully supports the thorough uninstallation of hundreds of antivirus and antispyware applications" and the laughable exaggerated statement " ... "one lists applications that have been reported as supported by the hundreds of thousands of users", goes to show you that? Well, I do not know what those statements go on to show you beyond putting real meaning into the warning "buyer beware".
