Apple’s iCal is a fantastic standalone calendar that enables you to add task items, meetings and events that you need to attend, in the near future. You can then set reminders, alarms and refer to your weekly schedule at the start of the working week.
There aren’t too many similar applications for the Windows platform. Mozilla’s Lightning project is close. That integrates with the Mozilla apps so that you can access your calendar from Thunderbird.
MonoCalendar is a standalone calendar that attempts to replication some of the iCal features for the Windows platform. It also replicates the look and feel of the iCal package, so if you’re familiar with iCal, getting to grips with MonoCalendar should be relatively straightforward.
Note that MonoCalendar requires Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 or higher.
