Share and publish your calendar

Although organisations enable us to share information across our network, trying to track whether another employee is in the office, is busy at a meeting or can attend your future meeting, still isn’t so straightforward. It’s not always cost-effective for a company to purchase a multi-seat license of Outlook and if you use a combination of PCs and Macs across your network, there may be issues synchronising calendar information across the various machines.

This situation is made worse if your corporation uses employees that either work at home or outside your local network. One solution would be to use an online calendar solution such as Google Calendar, but most users prefer to use desktop software rather than having to login to a remote website to add ‘to do’, task and other meeting info so it can be shared between other users.

The solution is a desktop/web sharing solution that will enable you to use tools such as Outlook to send out email-based invitations and then use a plugin to publish and share this information with other users (either those who use or do not use Outlook), online.

Tungle is such as a solution. If you use Outlook, it will enable you to share your Outlook calendar information with other users. It will also synchronise with other online calendars, such as Google Calendar. Another remote user can choose to view your space and, if they see you have a spare slot for a possible meeting, they can propose a meeting and send you a request which you can either accept or decline.
