ScummVM

The problem with recent computer games is that the developers spend more time working on the graphics engine and less in an engaging experience that keeps users coming back for more. We quickly move on to a new game, which keeps our attention for a limited period of time, until the next interesting game is released. Games shouldn’t be like that, they should be more about keeping you entertained and engaged, as much as looking impressive.

Some of the most successful computer games could be regarded as basic, but hugely addictive and enjoyable. Point-and-click adventure games of old are some of the most entertaining games playable and over recent years there’s been a large number of gamers using emulators to play classic games on their PC.

ScummVM is a program which enables you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about ScummVM is that it just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed.

The download here is for the Windows release.
