If karaoke's your thing, you'll love this player. It is essentially a standard MIDI file player with some additional features that turn it into a great karaoke companion.

Karaoke Player allows you to record MIDI files and include the song lyrics in the recording. Once you have created your selection of MIDI files, simply use Karaoke Player as you would a normal audio player to play the songs on your PC.

Working in much the same way as a standard audio player, Karaoke Player is easy to use with an extremely user-friendly interface. The player consists of three main screens, allowing you total control over your music, and several other screens that offer additional features.

Everything is controlled from the main window - select, start, fast forward, rewind, shuffle and scan tracks. All other display windows can be opened or closed from here.

The playlist window allows you to load your selected tracks into the Karaoke Player, either through drag-and-drop or by browsing through your PC's hard drive. Add as many playlists as you like, or import existing playlists from other programs.

In other windows you can see exactly what is happening on each MIDI channel in real time, or even see the precise piano notes being played. There are also tools to alter elements such as tempo, key and volume.

Most importantly, there is a window which displays the lyrics for the song in the standard way - the words are coloured-in as they are required to be sung, so you can concentrate on singing yet keep perfect time. This window can display up to four lines at a time, and is fully sizeable to ensure the words can be read by all.

There are several sample tracks included to start you off, all of which are in the true karaoke spirit. If you are even remotely interested in karaoke, this is worth a look - and it is free too!
