Searching through websites across the Internet can be a relatively hit and miss affair. For instance, although Google does a fantastic job of collating various websites, how do you sort out the good from the bad? How do you know that by clicking on a link from a search engine, you won’t end up on a rogue site or similar?
GooglePreview is a tool that enables you to quickly see a visual representation of the search engine results within your browser window. By seeing a visual image of the search result, you can get a better idea of the destination of your web browser, when you click on the link.
Works effectively, but you need to wonder why Google don’t give you a visual preview of search engine results, rather than simply a text link. Perhaps this is due to the bandwidth requirements needed to show an image of hundreds of search results.
Searching with a visual image of each website can slow your browsing experience, so there’s also the option of switching off this feature when necessary.
Note that this is a Firefox extension. There is an Internet Explorer add-on available which we'll include on vnunet.com/downloads at a later date.
This latest version has support for Mozilla Firefox 3.
