Google Toolbar for Firefox is identical to the original Google Toolbar, but designed to run on the increasingly popular Firefox browser.
It offers instant access to a variety of Google facilities, and provides access to the Google search bar, although this is already integrated into Firefox.
Further buttons allow you to access Google's image search, Google Groups, and its web directory.
There's also a graphical bar representing the page rank. This is Google's measure of a page's quality, defined as one which has more links to it from other sites.
A form filler is included for easy completion of online forms, and a spell-checker ensures the your spelling is correct should you choose to enter details manually.
Also included is WordTranslator, which instantly translates English words on websites into other languages. Simply choose the language to translate to, and the translation appears in a tool-tip when you hover over a word.
This is the Windows version of the Firefox extension. Linux and Mac OS X versions are available from the Google Toolbar webpage.
Note that by downloading Google Toolbar for Firefox, you're adhering to the extension Terms & Conditions.

No go with Google toolbar with FF5
This beta toolbar listed here doesn't work with Firefox 5. It won't install and says it is incompatible. Any other ideas?

Not google napping...
This article is from 2009, OK the title is misleading, it should read... Google Toolbar for Firefox, V5 beta. The V5Beta is the version of the toolbar, not the version of FF the toolbar is for.

Not compatible
Heading on this page: Google Toolbar for Firefox 5 beta. Wrong. Tried installing it and got the message back, not compatible with Firefox 5.0. Not good. Google caught napping.

Hmm
"Google toolbar for Firefox 3.0 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.0" :( vnunet.com comment: check the release date. It's not 'toolbar for Firefox 3', it's 'toolbar for Firefox, v3', ie the third revision of the toolbar. Firefox 3 wasn't even in beta in February 2007.

Useful
It's quite useful if you have a gmail account, you can send pages with one right click, and it makes gmail your default emailer. Currently its not compatible with FF B4, maybe I'll upgrade!

Why?
As Firefox already comes with a Google search box, along with lots of other customisable add-ons, then why bother with this?
