Aveyond

Aveyond is the sequel to a very popular downloadable RPG called Ahriman's Prophecy. It is a single player, high-fantasy adventure game with conventions very similar to Final Fantasy or Breath of Fire and an anime art style.

You take the role of former slave-girl Rhen as she quests to defeat the evil archmage Ahriman. Throughout the game you have to carry out tasks, interact with other characters and fight monsters. The battle system is turn based with a focus on strategy as opposed to skill.

The game takes a while to get into, as your early objectives generally revolve around simply walking back and forth across town. However, after about half an hour of play the story becomes a lot more intriguing and the battles become interesting.

The game has some character development options available. You can equip your characters with different types of weapons and armour and as your characters gain experience they can learn new skills to use in battle. The only real issue with the combat system is that it takes a long time to level up your character, even during early levels.
