Peer-to-peer networking tools have received a lot of bad press over the years, but there are legitimate reasons why it’s often a good idea to source your downloads from multiple users. However fast your broadband connection, the main restriction is going to be the server where you Acquisition 2obtain your download. The server can serve so many users and can be bottlenecked by the bandwidth between the server and your ISP.

If you want large files much more quickly, you may find sourcing them from a peer-to-peer network far more successful. You can simply leave the download going, pause your download, leave your machine off for a few hours and when you next go back online the download will start again. They’ll always be someone online so you can download at your own convenience. It’s often the quickest way to get the very latest large files.

Acquisition is a peer-to-peer download manager for the Mac that’s been around for years. Unlike many Windows peer-to-peer managers, it’s not free. However, it’s designed well, updated regularly and works effectively. Worth checking if you’re a Mac user seeking an alternative method of obtaining your downloads.
