Most of use Windows on our system without any problems at all. We never get any serious virus issues, our hard drive doesn’t fail and we don’t lose important data. However, it happens. It also happens when we least expect to lost our system data. One evening you could be working on your dissertation (without making any backups, as you’ve been working like that for years), the next morning your system simply will not boot. As your system drive contains all your work data, do you re-install Windows, do you attempt to salvage your data or do you simply hope it will fix itself?
One option is to prepare yourself for this or similar scenarios by creating a bootable system repair and analysis tool. You could then boot in to this tool and either grab data from your existing hard drive – by-passing Windows. You’d simply load another operating system, grab your important data and re-install Windows. This process would take less than a couple of hours.
The key is to create and prepare a bootable system repair and analysis CD. Bart’s Preinstalled Environment (Bart’s PE) is a comprehensive self-contained bootable system analysis and repair disc. You simply burn the contents to a CD and, if you have a system fault, boot in to the CD.
The CD uses components from your Windows XP installation CD (so you’ll require this disc to boot your bootable CD) and will support NTFS file systems.

Bart's PE a Great tool
When I first read the review by Chris Wiles I though it could come in handy. So I downloaded and created the boot able CD, and there it sat along side my Windows XP disc. A few days ago I encountered a version of the vunodo virus. One of the features was to keep starting windows explorer every few seconds. My Avast anti virus program removed most of the components but could not remove the ljJDVmLB.dll (which was the file that kept restarting windows) residing in system32 folder because windows was using it. The same problem occurred in Safe Mode and windows explorer kept restarting here to and only way I could access programs was through Task Manager. I tried a SFC scan to no avail. I tried a on-line scan at Trend Micro this found the dll file but could not remove it. I tried on-line for solutions but could find no help and no information about this dll file. So hour after frustrating hour of efforts to remove the file left me with final solution of a complete windows reinstall little knowing that not 2 feet away was the solution to my problem. I picked up my Windows XP Pro cd and there beside the cd was Bart's PE . I had ticked the box to remove system restore previously so I restarted my PC with Bart's PE. Then using Bart's windows explorer explorer located the dll file deleted it then emptied the Recycle Bin and restarted my PC hey-presto it was working. I carried out more malware and spyware checks but a Big thanks to Vnunet, Chris Wiles and in particular Bart's PE I was able save a complete Windows reinstall and all the pain that comes with it. best Regards James
