Security software can be deeply integrated in to your computer. For instance, a security suite can consist of various modules that will protect your system from virus, malicious software, spyware and spam attack. These modules integrate in to your email client, check archived files and often start with your machine.
After a while, you might find that a module ceases to function or you might have accidentally stopped the software from booting with your computer. One option is to remove the software from your computer, but if it has been installed for months or even years, uninstallation might fail. Unless you’re an advanced user, you’re then stuck. The only other option is to re-install Windows.
The Norton Removal Tool is an official application from Symantec, designed to remove Norton software from your computer. If it fails, can’t be uninstalled or similar, you can use this tool to do the removal for you. It supports most recent editions of the Norton software, including AntiVirus, Security Suite, Ghost and more.

Removal tool
Hello Ive found this tool to be very effective and have used it several times when NIS goes wrong,it takes out everything regarding to norton

Symantec Spy ?
The Norton Removal Tool leaves a lot of Symantec stuff on the computer. The register still contains at least 40 keys related to Norton after running this tool. But what I find shocking, is that after removal and restart, there are still several Symantec tasks running! Obviously, Symantec still tries to spy on me - perhaps they want to find out what alternative I have installed after removal of Norton 360? (I have used Hijack this to really remove Norton from my systems)

Better..
First remove Norton from the Windows add/remove and then go searching in extended windows search and you will find many references (reg keys,files,folders) for Norton and Symantec - remove them all! Then run this removal tool to clean out some more crap ..then check again in windows search under .exe look down the list for yellow coloured icons and place the curser on each file that you find and you will be surprised how many are symantec files .. and remove these.
