Verdict

Some nice features, and its simple interface give PicoZip appeal.

This archive utility has extensive file support, allowing the creation of archives in seven different formats (BH, CAB, GZip, JAR, LHA, LZH, TAR and ZIP) and the extraction of files from 15 different formats (all the above plus ACE, RAR, TGZ, ZOO and more).

Like most archive utilities, its interface is simple to use, and there are various wizards available to guide beginners through each process.

Convert archives from one format to another, repair damaged archives, create self-extracting archives, password-protect files and even perform a virus scan on files.

All PicoZip's functions can also be performed in batch mode, saving both time and effort.

With its included Explorer, PicoZip lets you browse drives/folders for archives and allows you to view their contents without unpacking first.

A useful feature is the ability to create backup files to ensure important files are safely duplicated. These have to be run manually, but are pretty powerful.

Purchase price: $24.95
