System Mechanic Professional is a suite of five PC-troubleshooting and maintenance products in one integrated package: everything you need to keep your PC safe, fast, and error-free.
Fix problems, boost performance, eliminate crashes, defend against spyware, viruses, and hacker threats, and much more. Use one centralised system dashboard to automatically perform all vital PC maintenance.
More than just Internet security, System Mechanic 10 Professional is a complete solution for PC protection, system optimization, and trouble-free maintenance.
System Mechanic Professional consists of five modules, which are:
System Mechanic. Keep your PC running like new – fix problems, boost performance, eliminate crashes, defend against spyware threats, and much more. Its one-click power tools automatically perform vital services by diagnosing, reporting, and resolving computer problems and performance issues.
iolo AntiVirus. Shield your PC from viruses, worms, Trojans, and other threats by using an advanced real-time engine that provides continuous maximum protection. Fully integrated email protection scans messages as they are transmitted, and an intuitive interface makes it easy to activate scheduled system inspections for a permanently virus-free PC.
iolo Personal Firewall. Block unwanted communication to and from your PC, keeping your private information safe from hackers and identity thieves. The proprietary IntelliDefense system takes out the guesswork by automatically deciding which programs should connect to the Internet. Now you can work or play without the hassle of being constantly prompted to monitor your PC’s traffic.
Search and Recover. Recover deleted files, photos, movies, email, and more, from any drive, disc, camera, music player, or memory card. Proprietary StrongScan and SmartScan technologies allow you to recover information after the worst PC accidents and disasters – even years after the data was lost.
DriveScrubber . Prevent your valuable information from falling into the wrong hands by overwriting and removing all data permanently, beyond anyone’s ability to recover it. In addition to wiping away all data, DriveScrubber can regularly wipe only deleted data, keeping the existing files and operating system intact.
This is the latest and brand new System Mechanic 10 which ships with a number of new features to give your system a speed boost and enhance your Registry. All of which can be done automatically or by using the classic individual tool.
Note that the download here is for a download stub only. Once downloaded, the Iolo download manager will download the most recent version automatically, which is approximately 65MB.

Do you agree?
The Antivirus part is now called System Shield & is buggy
There are some oddities in the "System Shield" anti-virus section of this package that can cause you to lose files due to bugs when downloading. (They download then get deleted with NO WARNING) This has been reported to Iolo, but the company are not interested in fixing these bugs as they are only going to happen to very few files and they don't think anyone will notice. I found one example file which (If you can download it) you can scan and prove that it is safe. (Even with System Shield!) Try downloading; http://download.softpedia.com/dl/1e8563aa457657fccc94fa6528b23bd0/4b660003/100010213/software/system/bench/CPUFreeBenchMark2.zip and you will see the bug - a zip file downloads, then the contents of the file are deleted leaving an EMPTY zip file! Use this only at your own risk! Iolo suggest excluding the downloads folder from the anti-virus scan! How stupid would that be?

System Mechanic Pro 8
I find that product works fine if you don't use the antivirus or firewall.I am still using Kaspersky Antivirus and my Windows firewall and have not had any problems.

Warning: SMP Version 8 Install Stopped Vista From Working
I just bought this software from Staples and installed it on my fairly new problem free Vista-running HP computer. On the re-boot after install, my computer starts up, but I can't log in and my screen goes blank and the computer freezes. I had to do a restore to get my computer to work again. Do not buy this buggy product. I want my money back. I wished I did some research before wasting my money on this product.

Excellent Update
Had v7 and was very happy to get the upgrade to v8 for free - many other apps suppliers charge extra. The new items on v8 are very usefull, especially the continued keeping the PC in good condition, when not in use.

Decent
For me System Mechanic 8 is one of the best except for some minor but the most important problems. The antivirus quite frankly is nothing but a load of rubbish. Even though it was on my computer got severly infected. Other than this I haven't got any problems with this. I must admit that my computer was quite quick after I started using this but without a good anti-virus I do not see any use for this. So as an alternative I went for Kaspersky Internet security 2009. I wish system mechanic had a beter antivirus. Other than that I haven't got any complaints. It stands up to all(most) all it's promises except the anti-virus. I wish Iolo puts a better anti-virus the next time. The second major problem is it does not catch spyware properly. So with two very big problems I think you can understand why I was feeling so unsecure using system mechanic. Except those two I can confidently say that there is no better optimizing tool for a computer but I wish Iolo builds their product in a better way the next time.

Bad program
I had bad luck with this software, and sure more people will too. It's hard for software to help speed up your pc while consuming resources in the background. 90% of the utilities used in System Mechanic are already a part of windows, and arent that hard to access. I had a 3 day headache after downloading so save yourself the trouble.

Stay away
I have been using SMP for over 5 yrs. This new version is still full of bugs, crashes my laptop once a day, do not use the anti-virus or the firewall. Runs programs not scheduled. Iolo support is a joke. Took over one week to answer an anti-virus lock up, solution reinstall, what a joke. My solution I uninstalled. No more problems.

re. Not the Deal
I downloaded and am using the free trial of System Mechanic 7 and Norton Security has not had a problem with it.

v7 isn't good at all
I have used System Mechanic Pro since the first version but v7 is, so far, the worst I have come across. The firewall doesn't always initialise stopping the shutdown or restart of the pc. After a short time the causes crashes and continual restart of the machine. The support always is the same "look in the knowledge base". It got so bad I uninstalled it and have had no problems since. I hope Iolo get it sorted.

Not the deal
I tried to download the free trial before purchasing but it will not work with Norton. as I trust Norton I will not uninstall the protection that it provides. It may be a good idea to get both systems to work on a temp basis, this would be ideal for people to try this out first but keeping the security that Norton provides.

No big deal
So far, I am not in love with version 7. I have yet to find anything that version 7 does which is any better. Also, I am i the process if getting support to fix a licensing issue. If you try to use the program under Windows XP as a limited user (non-admin), the virus and firewall programs cannot retrieve the license information. Rentering the license does not work. Changing the accounts to admin does work, but makes the computer less secure. Support told me to make all my users admin. Anyway, do yourself a favor and stick with version 6 until they work out the bugs.
