This is the software publisher’s description.
Automation tool for Microsoft Windows. It can control every aspect of your computer, such as the mouse, keyboard, and web actions, without needing to write any programming code. VistaTask is useful for performing many different types of jobs on your computer, and provides significant productivity gains in areas such as software quality assurance testing, IT administration jobs, repetitive data entry, or recurring internet tasks. It offers easy Windows automation, while still providing advanced features such as data-driven scripts, image masking, and an EXE compiler. Best of all, these powerful features are accessible through VistaTask's simple and clear XML files.
Current software automation tools are too complex, and definitely too expensive. It shouldn't be necessary to learn a new programming script language just to automate a basic task or test software. It takes fewer steps and less time to create new automation jobs in VistaTask than in any competing product.

Price is okay - there are multiple versions available
Jack Boyce's comment above about price is misdirected. The $40 programs he's referring to typically do not include an EXE compiler, full Excel XLS automation, or image recognition like vTask does. For comparison, a similar product, "Automate," costs over $800, and vTask has nearly identical features for 1/6 the price. Jack is comparing to simple recording programs, or basic keymappers. In this regard, vTask also does have a "personal" version that is only $29 -- even cheaper than he expected. In fact, vTask even has a FREE version of the program called "TinyTask." So, vTask has something for every budget from professional QA testing all the way to "free."

Priced too high
Dozens of full function programs exist that automate almost every task in Windows. Some operate by recording each movement and click of a mouse while others follow a pattern of small tasks and integrate them in a macro, script, or some task completion mechanism. I have used at least a dozen programs similar to VistaTask and found that most of them would automate any function that I wished. Several of these capable programs have been released as "freeware" and none have been over forty U.S. dollars. Presently I am using "Direct Access" for most operations and "WireKeys" occasionally. Either program standing alone would serve my purposes. I prefer one program over the other depending on the task at hand. I would never pay the price being asked for VistaTask. Other programs do about as much, have easy user interfaces, and cost far less.
