ITUNES WON'T WORK WITH NEW IPOD TOUCH
My son has been using an ipod classic on my laptop (Windows Vista) since October last year with no problems. He got a 2nd hand Ipod touch for Christmas, we assumed that we could just connect the ipod touch and itunes would work, not the case, we were told to uninstall itunes and download it again, I must have done this at least 10 times in the last 2 days. Eventually we managed to get it to download so at least his itunes library is back - we get a message to say that the ipod touch won't work without the correct software and we are asked to install Quick Time player, again I did this several times and eventually it loaded, still NO JOY I'm pretty much out of ideas if anyone has had a similar problem or can help please. We are still getting a message to say the ipod cannot be used, we have also tried several connection cables we have just in case its anything to do with that. Its a 2nd generation ipod touch - its so frustrating!!!!!!

Making iTunes 10.1.5 work
I've discovered how to sync my iPhone 4S and my iPod with iTunes: reboot the computer and synch before opening any other application. Hokey - but it works.

Sync near impossible with version 10.5 on iPhone 4S
iTunes keeps stalling during the sync process, and the only way I can close iTunes is via Task Manager. Problems also arise with trying to sync iPod - the process stalls at phase 1 and refuses to respond.

iTunes won't launch *it has encountered a problem and must close*
I have spent 16 hours trying to get the upgrade to version 10 to work and still can't get it to open. I managed to reload and older version and now I find my iPod can only function with version 10. But version 10 wont launch. My iPod is virtually stuck with songs that are getting stale. Why can't apple read these comments and do something about resolving the problems.

iTunes problem
I also downloaded this update which stopped itunes loading. It's the program called Bonjour which seems to be the problem, so try disabling it - To stop Bonjour running, click Control+Alt+Del and go to Task Manager. Choose 'processes' and click 'show processes for all users'. Bonjour should now appear in the list. Right-click on it and choose 'stop' or end process. (copied from Apple forum)

Music video problems with 8.2
I updated to iTunes 8.2 and can no longer play my music videos. They played fine with 8.1.1.10 once a fix had been applied. I tried uninstalling 8.2 and reinstalling 8.1.1.10 but this would not open as the it could no longer access my iTunes library. Therefore I reinstalled 8.2 which works but will not play any videos at all. Be warned.

Itunes upgrade
After accepting the new itunes and quicktime upgrade can no longer access my itunes software. When I try to click on it, all I get is a message saying windows has to close, also since the new download, everytime I start up my PC I have the Windows system 32 file come up on my desktop, which I then have to click it off. I have spend the whole day and evening and it is now 3,30am and I still cannot get into itunes even though my ipod states that it is connected. I have tried restore back to an earlier date, I have tried unstalling and reinstalling iTunes but nothing works. I am now totally and utterly fed up and annoyed with Apple. And by looking at their website, if I want to speak to technical about this problem which they have caused many of us, then I have got to pay I believe it said £35, how crazy and unfair is that. My ipod is now useless for downloading or carrying out anything on my PC and I am or was in credit with Itunes store, so what happens to that?

I am also a victim of not being able to use any ipod and also have lost the whole of my itunes library having tried to upgrade to itunes 8.02 - what am I supposed to do now? It cost me £65 to have my computer fixed the first time but I still couldn't access my itunes library. This is a nightmare.

I tunes Version 8.0.2.20
After foolishly (on reflection) accepted offer to download latest version, I can no longer open I tunes. I have tried every way but which way and nothing!! Sometimes it says I haven't got Quicktime loaded (I have) sometimes it says 'I tunes has encountered a problem and has to close' Seems the problem is mine.

iTunes in Apple Lossless Format
You CANNOT purchase music from iTunes version 7.01 (latest versions) and convert the songs to Apple Lossless Format. I tried and it DOES NOT WORK. It appears that people that want high quality music STILL need to purchase it elsewhere. Apparently, Apple and music community STILL haven't gotten together to figure out a different pricing structure for high quality music downloads! How stupid is this! Just charge an extra $.050 or something and get it over with. I refuse to purchase music at such a low sound quality!

Re: Still the best
There is a way to copy music from other peoples iTunes on a networked environment - use MyTunes: http://minimalverbosity.com/

OK if you can get round the technical problems
iTunes was a great product, but with v5 they have introduced a number of technical problems which are plaguing both Mac users and PC users. I suggest reading the Apple forums before you install/upgrade, as there are a number of posts giving workarounds.
