If your motherboard does not properly support the Intel Pentium 4 Prescott processor, installing Service Pack 2 will stop Windows from loading at all.

This patch from Microsoft will update your computer so that you can install Service Pack 2 without encountering this problem. If you are unsure about whether you are affected, download and install the Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility. Click on the CPUID Data tab. If your processor has the following settings you need to install the patch:

CPU Family F

CPU Model 3

CPU Stepping 3

CPU Revision 3, 2, 1 or 0
