Verdict

A great alternative to solitaire that not only looks better, but offers a lot more gameplay.

Mahjongg is an authentic Chinese version of solitaire, based on elaborately decorated tiles rather than playing cards.

The tiles are laid out in various patterns, consisting of several layers. The idea is to match identical tiles together. Do this and they are removed from the game. Clear all tiles to win the game.

Tiles can be removed only if they are not touching another tile on the left or right (they can be touching a tile on one side, but not on both), and are not underneath another tile.

You can choose to lay the tiles out in several different formations, each having its own level of difficulty. Various expansion packs are freely available, offering new backgrounds, layouts and tile sets.

Mahjongg is instantly playable, very addictive and frustrating at times. Just when you think you have completed a game you get stuck a few tiles from the end.

This game has some very detailed graphics, displaying authentic looking Mahjongg tiles onscreen, against a choice of backgrounds.

This download works with greyscale, colour and high-resolution Palm devices.

Purchase price: $14.95
