Another useful tool for defragmenting your drive, but lacking in advanced features

Your old system might appear to need an upgrade, if you’ve been using your computer for over a year. It just seems to become slower, over time. Windows takes longer to boot, applications take a few more seconds to start and your system can feel a lot more sluggish. One option is simply to purchase a brand new and faster hard drive. Re-install Windows and your favourite applications and you’ll suddenly find everything is a lot more snappy. However, after a few months of using the new drive, your system will be sluggish again.
Why does this happen? Simply as the more applications you install and remove from your computer, the more likely your drive will become fragmented. This occurs when files are stored in different locations on your drive and your drive has to spin more than usual to load Windows and your applications. Defragment your drive and the contents will be stored in one continuous block, so you’ll find your system starts more quickly and your PC appears to be running more smoothly.
The Windows defragmentation tool isn’t the best available. It’s rather slow, so if you have a huge hard drive it can take hours to finish defragmenting your drive. Worse, you can’t really do anything whilst it’s performing the defragmentation process.
Defraggler is a new tool from the developers who brought you CCleaner. It’s small and compact and will enable you to defragment a collection of files, as well as your entire drive.
Note that this is the latest v2 release. This latest version now ships with a number of new features including a new defragmentation engine and many other GUI improvements.

Slower on first run
It's worth persevering with new programs a little until you understand what is happening rather than giving in at what seems may be the first hurdle..........it's slower on its first run because it orders files differently to the windows defragmenter, after that initial reordering it got a lot quicker but biggest advantage is the background defrag option. Do the others do that? Worth it for that for that function alone, it works in those idle times when cpu usage is low. And defragging afterthe first time is faster.

Disagree with those who prefer the Auslogics.
I tried Auslogics disc defrag, and it failed totally on my disc of large, heavily fragmented files - it couldn't cope with a lack of contiguous free space. Defraggler took a good long time, but cleared all the fragmentation in one pass.

Chris R right Auslogic disk defrag
Auslogic fast & simple. The listed one is way slower. Have used it before but tired of hour plus times.

Defraggler
hello used this yesterday and found it defraggmented the whole drive where as the one in windows doesnt,and it took no longer than the windows one but done a better job,and have now set it to defraggment regulary

Don't bother with this
I'll stick with the Ashampoo Magical Defragmenter. I never had to defragment since I installed it. Much less hassle.

Slow Slow Slow
This is even slower than the standard windows defragmenter. Stick to Auslogics disc defragmenter - it's a much better interface and defrags really quickly.

Defrggler
Im using windows defraggler and have 80% of free space,and only have an 80gb hard drive and mine takes about 30 mins to defragg

Hard Drive filling up while running Defraggler
Ok I'm finding this a little weird. I've just downloaded and started running Defraggler since I had a shameful 100+GB of fragmentation. However a few hours in I noticed that I had 5GB less HDD space than I did when I started. Why is this?

Not very efficient
Downloaded this and started it up expecting it to be fast and efficient. After four and a half hours I shut it down and it had only completed 56% of the drive. My drive C is 150Gbs and it has 87Gbs free. Windows only takes about one and a half hours to complete the whole drive. Have now uninstalled Defraggler 1.10 and will only use Windows.
