The Adobe name is synonymous with professional image manipulation, and Photoshop Album does nothing to let the Adobe product range down.
It's easy to find your way around the package and there are plenty of step-by-step instructions to guide you through various processes.
Despite the name of the software, Adobe has dispensed with the idea of photo albums in favour of what it calls 'tags'. Tags can be dragged onto pictures to identity them.
If you want to view all your family photos, for example, simply search for those images that have been assigned a tag stating 'family'. Images can also be given a caption to reflect their content.
Images can be transferred directly into the program from scanners, cameras and memory card readers, and there's a handy calendar view for finding things by date. This is particularly easy to use thanks to a timeline graph at the top of the screen with a sliding marker that can be used to call up pictures created on any given date.
Basic photo editing tools can be used to improve pictures, and the print options allow you to create greetings cards, email cards or a video CD.
This free edition is limited to handling only 250 of your favorite photos, audio clips, video clips, and creations.
The latest 3.2 contains a number of minor enhancements, as well as support for Windows Vista.

Missing images
I already have Album Starter 3.2 but I now cannot access any of my images as they are 'missing files' and after searching on my computer they are nowhere to be found. Years of family photos gone. Can you help please? I have contacted Adobe but get nowhere.

Number of Photos
The free version of Photoshop Album SE 3.2 can handle in excess of 2,000 photos as was able to do so in ver 2. It is good & there is a neat trick to force it to use the UK style date (dd/mm/yyyy). The only downside is that scanned images can be reported as too big to import.
