Instead of backing your data to a disc or external hard drive, we recommend a remote server. There's no reason why you can't buy your own. A basic entry-level virtual server can be bought for as little as £3.95/month (see www.webfusion.co.uk/webhosting), which also gets you a free domain and 1.5GB of storage space. At a minimum, there's no reason why you couldn't simply use this storage for hosting your data, rather than a website. You'd then use an FTP tool to access the content and upload or download files. The bonus of using a remote server is that you can access the content from any computer and in any location, as long as you have Internet access

Uranium Backup Free 7.2 is a tool that you can use to perform a basic backup (or restore) of your important files. You can use a remote server, too. Simply select the files you want to backup, such as your accounts, choose the server, backup. It's that easy. You can even use ZIP compression to save space on the remote server.
