Apple Safari 4 was released as a beta preview the other day and we were quite surprised to see how similar it was to Google Chrome, on Windows Vista, on first view. Since using it across our Windows and Mac computers, we're less keen on some of the user interface changes. The tabs at the top of the browser window are less effective and we miss the page progress bar.
Luckily enough for
Safari 4 users, Apple haven't changed these functions completely and, if you know what you're doing, you can change the interface back to how it appeared in the previous incarnation.
Random Genius have produced a list of commands you can use in the Mac-based Terminal to turn on the progress bar, turn off tabs at the top of the screen and much more. If you're a Windows
Safari 4 user, you can simply edit the preferences XML file.
