Keep one eye on your hard drive using Ashampoo HDD Control

junky-ashampoohdd.gifMost of us are now keeping our PCs for far longer than in the past. We're still using old white iMacs and have no real intention of upgrading them any time soon. Why should we? Even though they are three years old, they are still 2.2Ghz Dual Core Intel-based computers and the current 20 inch Mac is 0.5Ghz faster and ships with that awful glossy reflective screen, which is useless in a bright environment. Problem is that the components in our computer can be the first to go and we forget that our hard drive only has a limited lifespan. If we store all our key applications on one drive, and that drive goes down, the problem is that you might not be able to salvage the data.

Ashampoo HDD Control 1.0 is commercial software which you can use to monitor the status of your hard drive. It doesn't just keep one eye on the status (and will warn you if the drive is likely to fail soon), it will perform small repairs by defragging the content and improving performance.
