Adobe has confirmed that it will release a critical patch for vulnerabilities in its popular Flash Player software on Wednesday.
The company warned in a Pre-notification Security Update for Flash Player that the update addresses "critical security issues" as well as an "important universal cross-site scripting issue" which is already being exploited in the wild.
As we all know, a 'critical' security bulletin refers to the patching of a vulnerability which, if exploited, could allow "malicious native-code to execute, potentially without a user being aware".
An 'important' issue is one step below 'critical' and could compromise data security or computing resources if exploited.
The patch is not part of Adobe's usual three-monthy release cycle, which fell on 13 September this quarter and saw the release of patches for critical flaws in Adobe Reader and Acrobat.
If exploited successfully, these flaws could cause the app to crash and allow hackers to take control of the affected system, according to the firm.
