Most organisations need a note sharing application and there are few better than Evernote, available for Windows or Mac. We use this for sharing information about potential articles, ideas and new software, between various writers. The great thing about the note sharing application is that the recipient can be in any location. With versions of Evernote for your iPhone you can have access to the same notes on the road.
One our favourite system maintenance tools received a major upgrade this week. iolo System Mechanic 10.5 was made available with a couple of new tools. A driver updater will check whether your installed drivers are out-of-date and suggest updates where applicable. You also get an SSD optimizer which will keep your SSD drive on top form.
Chrome 12 was recently made available as stable (with v13 entering beta). Chrome for Windows and Chrome for Mac can be downloaded.
Adobe released two updates this week. Adobe Reader 10.1 is now available, whilst Adobe Air 2.7 is essential if you want to run cross-platform Air products on your computer. Air enables you to run the same app on Windows, Mac or Linux. TweetDeck is a good example of an Air application.
Soluto 1.2.147 is an interesting new application. Run this on your PC and it will examine installed software and figure whether the installed apps are causing system slowdown. It will make suggestion about what you can safely remove. The latest version now includes a crash analyser which will examine why your system crashed and make suggestions about how you can stop it happening in future.
Peazip 3.8 is a great multi-purpose archive manager. Best of all, it's free. Recommended. There's also a portable version you can take on the road.
iTunes 10.3.1 for Windows and for Mac is a minor upgrade for the major 10.3 revision, with some iCloud support.
Finally, O&O Defrag 14.5 was released in the week and this powerful drive maintenance suite will keep your drives fragmentation free by reorganising the content. Should make your system boot more quickly and apps start more swiftly.
