An attempted break-in at an Apple store ended in tragedy earlier this week. Authorities in Chula Vista, CA report that early Monday morning a robbery at the San Diego area Apple store ended in a firefight that left one of the suspects dead.
The incident began when a security guard spotted two men attempting to break the window of the Apple store and take merchendise from the storefront.
When the guard approached the store, things escalated. One of the men allegedly threatened the guard with a handgun, leading the guard to draw his own weapon and fire on the two men.
Somewhere in between the confrontation and the robbers attempting to flee in a car, one of the suspects was mortally wounded. The getaway car crashed and two people were arrested while a third was pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the unpleasant side-effects of new Apple products is increased criminal activity. When you have a product that everyone wants, you sometimes encounter people who are willing to break the law to get it.
Always remember to keep an eye on your surroundings and exercise caution when using expensive devices in public places.
