Steve Jobs has no shortage of honours and awards to his name, but did a missed meeting with Gordon Brown cause him to lose out on one of the planet's most prestigious titles?
According to the Telegraph the former UK Prime Minister torpedoed a campaign that would have gotten Jobs knighted.
The Telegraph suggests that Brown has had it in for the Apple founder ever since Jobs declined a request to come speak at a Labour Party conference. The snub apparently angered Brown to the point where he held a grudge toward Jobs.
When a campaign to get Jobs an honorary knighthood came to Downing Street, word is that Brown extracted his revenge by getting the proposal rejected, thus making sure that "Saint Steve" would not become "Sir Steve."
It might be for the best. Getting in to Apple events is hard enough as it is. Imagine if they had to accommodate the inflated ego of a knighted Steve Jobs.
