Last year, the end of daylight savings time caused some scheduling headaches for iPhone users. An error with the alarm system prevented the alarms from properly adjusting to the time change, putting users an hour late.
Now, as the US springs forward, the iPhone is once again having trouble coping with the concept of a time change. It seems that the iPhone's internal clock is declining to automatically adjust to the time change, once again leaving users an hour behind the rest of the world.
The issue is simple to fix. If you simply turn off your iPhone or momentarily set it to airplane mode, the handset will simply reset itself with the correct time. An easy remedy, but little comfort if you sleep in and miss an important meeting or end up late for work as a result.
With a couple of weeks to go before the UK starts its daylight savings time, it's a good idea for iPhone owners to plan ahead. Either set back your phone manually and disable the automatic date and time feature, or adjust your alarms to go off an hour early.
In the meantime, what is it with iOS and time changes? Were the developers on that part of the system raised in Hawaii or Arizona, perhaps?
