Not even the eye of Sauron could stop the Xbox juggernaut launching its latest weapon in the highly competitive gaming market.
Officially launched at a glittering MTV event in the US, a galacticos of stars turned up to see Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood and a whole host of A-list celebs come to covet the precious.
Tonight on MTV at 20.00 GMT, UK gamers will be able to watch the official unveiling of the 360.

<p>Still a glorified PC then? The stupid truth is that with a dvd player and a Sky+ box, you are already as qualified in a "media" sense as any console should dream about. Stick a Microsoft badge on it though and the masses will buy.</p>
