Screengrab_2 Although we're generally poor at managing our personal finances, business users must manage their company finances, as they have to be accountable to shareholders, pass their finances to Company House and may even be exposed to a VAT or tax investigation. For this reason, we're seeking a low-cost finance package that will enable a small business to juggle managing their finances with issuing invoices and making sure that they are being paid, on time.

Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2008 is the free version of their accounting suite for small business users. You can keep track of all your basic day-to-day finances. However, if you're involved with international trade and multiple currencies, you may want to evaluate the Professional edition.
