Go out and buy a new hard drive, install Windows, your favourite applications and watch as your computer boosts swiftly, applications launch immediately and everything just seems snappy. Problem is that we're all guilty of installing, removing and testing new software, as well as moving files around our drive. As we do that, data is not stored in a continuous block, so the drive has to spend a lot longer locating and then loading information.
