File sharing has had a lot of bad press, especially in the past, just look at the controversy surrounding Napster in its early years. Even now there are applications such as Limewire who still offer free, basic versions of their software. Now there are more 'legitimate' P2P solutions available, but file sharing still remains a controversial subject and although developers are still producing applications based on the technology, it's ultimately the user that is responsible for what they share.
