Review
Large monitors are all the rage in the enterprise as they are relatively low cost and help with productivity by allowing workers to view multiple programs or documents simultaneously.
The ViewSonic VX2451mhp-LED is the latest 24in monitor to be released and, although not as large as some of the other monitors we've reviewed, it is a very good size and delivers excellent picture quality.
Ice white design
The most striking feature of the ViewSonic is the beautiful pearl white bezel, which gives it a unique look. The screen attracted admiring glances in the office and makes a change from monotonous black displays.
Of course, the downside is that it attracts noticeable speckles of dust and marks quite easily. A regular wipe down will be needed to keep it in pristine condition, but this isn't a difficult task.
The VX2451mhp-LED measures 582x440x210mm, which makes it a little chunkier than the 24in LG E2441v Super LED monitor (569x419x179mm). The body sits on a small, stylish little base giving it a total weight of 4.23kg, which is a few hundred grams heavier than similar sized LG and Samsung products.
The only design feature that disappointed was the size of the four navigation buttons on the front. These are quite small and you have to be very precise when using them to navigate through the on-screen menus.
Crystal clear display
The VX2451mhp-LED comes with a recommended resolution of 1,920x1,080 for PCs and Macs. Clarity of text and images on the widescreen display is pin sharp even when connecting to a machine via the analogue mini D-sub port.
The display has a brightness of 300cd/m2, and this is very impressive when turned up to the maximum. With a 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and support for 16.7 million colours, the display projects extremely clear vibrant colours. The anti-glare coating also means that the ViewSonic can be used very comfortably in an office environment where overhead lighting can pose problems.
Watching video on the VX2451mhp is very impressive. Colours really pop out of the screen and the display is more than capable of playing 1080p content in all its full high-definition glory.

The monitor automatically adjusts contrast levels depending on the environment to save energy. It is also possible to manually activate an eco-mode to save more power, and this can also help to reduce eye strain when using the monitor for long periods.
The response time of 5ms is very quick and is often a feature found on gaming displays. The only downside is the viewing angle, which isn't the most flexible and can be adjusted by only 10 degrees.
Easily accessible connections
ViewSonic has incorporated a reasonable number of ports into the display, which are conveniently grouped together on the back. The placement in the bottom left hand corner is really accessible, and the display can be flipped around quickly to plug in cables.
It's possible to connect a PC or Mac via using a mini D-sub, DVI-D or HDMI connections, and the monitor has the regular Audio-In and Audio-Out jacks, but no USB ports so it's not possible to power peripherals through the monitor.
Overall
The ViewSonic VX2451mhp-LED is an excellent effort and is competitively priced at £155 considering its 24in size. Colour reproduction and brightness are very impressive, and the lovely pearl white finish gives it a great look.
The 24in size is more than large enough to show two windows comfortably, which will cater to the needs of most users. Those wanting to view more than two panes on the screen at the same time may want to opt for a larger 27in monitor.
