The launch of the Monday lottery was delayed by four hours yesterday after the company's website crashed under the weight of users trying to log on.
The opening draw was supposed to take place at 8pm UK time, but lottery operator Chariot extended the time to midnight to give other players a chance to take part.
The launch was the culmination of three years' work from the initial idea. It was set up as a rival to the National Lottery and the idea was to offer better odds than its competitor.
"It would have 27 times better odds of winning a jackpot, two draws instead of one, a jackpot winner every week, better smaller prizes and five times more of a player's £1 going to charity than on the National Lottery," says the Monday website.
Monday will give 30p from every £1 spent to 70 partner charities, and players can choose which charity to donate to from a list of five candidates each week.
Do you agree?

Ditto, Shambles!
Unable to access 'play',was told it was because I didn't have 'flash' installed?? Although it was OK to add funds to my account. Entered on another PC but later found my account blocked! Tried to ring the helpline - was kept in a queue for in excess of 20 minutes each time over a period of 3+ hrs. When I eventually got thru I was told the account was blocked as 'possibly someone at the same time had tried logging in on my user name' - highly unlikely! I complained about the time and expense of trying to get thru on the telephone & was told to e-mail BUT they have a backlog of over 10,000 mails so far - chances of getting a reply very slim..The concept of charities getting help is a good idea - maybe someone should have thought thru how the system was going to work!

You should not beleive all you read
As for Monday Lottery giving 30% to charities, who are they kidding? Reading the small print in their initial prospectus, only 25% goes to a good causes, as the remaining 5% goes back to Monday, to cover the cost of advertising.

Shambles!
Why on earth didn't the organisers contact Richard Branson who has expressed a willingness to run a fair lottery?
In three years they should have realised that they could have taken almost all of the players away from the vey unpopular Camelot lotery, and that they should have foreseen the crush.
I hope they will get grass roots outlets for their sales.
