Online dope sales hit new high

Activists in Canada have set up a website offering home delivery of cannabis for seriously ill people.

The move follows a decision by a Quebec judge to stop the drug trafficking trial of two volunteers from the Compassion Club of Montreal, a group that provides marijuana for medicinal purposes through its website.

And now the Marijuana Party Foundation has launched a site at www.marijuanahomedelivery.ca which offers two forms of "highest quality therapeutic cannabis" with a Tetrahydrocannabinol content (the psychoactive compound in marijuana) of eight per cent or more.

According to Reuters, a two-gram package sells for C$30 (£12) while internet surfers can order a 10-gram shipment for C$120 (£48).

The Marijuana Party Foundation says on its site: "You are not contributing to organised crime. All revenues raised from our service go to advance efforts to end cannabis prohibition."

Buyers must be Canadian citizens living in Canada, at least 18 years of age and in possession of a doctor's diagnosis of an illness that can be treated with cannabis.
