Microsoft has confirmed that UK customers will now be able to purchase the Windows 7 Family Pack, which allows the new operating system to be installed onto more than one PC.
Windows 7 Family Pack will be available for UK customers from 22 October, the official launch date for the new version of Windows. Family Pack allows users to install Windows 7 Home Premium on up to three existing PCs at a cost of £149.99, much less than paying for three separate licences.
However, Microsoft warned that the Windows 7 Family Pack will be available in limited quantities.
The company had originally said that the Family Pack would not be available in this country, owing to its long-running tussle with the European Commission over the bundling of Internet Explorer.
Microsoft had planned to ship a version of Windows in Europe without a browser, but reached a deal in July whereby users will see a ballot screen allowing them to choose an alternative browser to Internet Explorer.
Do you agree?
Still a RIP off
Apple is rarely known for its price competitiveness, but Apple's OS X (Snow Leopard) family pack at £39 is a bargain. Microsoft's must be skint to be so uncompetitive!!.
